Scientific Project Manager – Dr Terry Brncic
Dr Terry Brncic has a PhD in Tropical Forest Ecology from Oxford University, UK. She has spent several years carrying out fieldwork in central Africa on the ecology of gorillas and forest plant species. Her latest postdoctoral research was concerned with the long-term ecology of African rainforests, where she analysed sedimentary records from the Congo basin to determine changes in forest composition in response to climate change and human impacts over the last several thousand years. Her previous experience of working in the field for extended periods and building the skills of her teams together with her professional skills is key for the successful delivery of this project.

Scientific Advisor - Professor John Oates
Professor John Oates is an internationally recognised expert in many fields including primatology and tropical forest ecology. His regular visits to Sierra Leone started in the 1970’s and he has maintained a strong relationship with the country since that time. His extensive experience will be available to Terry and the team throughout the project.
The Field Assistants
One of the main aims of the project is to build the skills of Sierra Leoneans to work in conservation. Terry is building a strong team drawn from the universities, governnent and local communities. As the project progresses we’ll add profiles of the team members.
