Bala Amarasekaran abandoned his original career as an accountant to establish Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary in 1995. Together with the Government of Sierra Leone, he is working to secure the welfare and future of chimpanzees in Sierra Leone.

Tacugama has been busy! Thank you for the informative newsletter Bala. I am also happy to know that Little Bruno is doing well. The sanctuary has had many accomplishments the past few months. I am eager to hear of the census results. One day I will visit and I want to stay in August’s house. God rest her sweet soul. Thank you all so much for your hard work and dedication to these wonderful creatures.
