They’d also like you to know that if you’re stuck for a Christmas gift then there’s no need to panic. You can now visit our new pages on Wildlife Direct and adopt one of the Tacugama chimpanzees for your family and friends. We will do our best to email electronic copies of the adoption certificate and biography by return so that you have time to print them for Christmas Day while the rest of the adoption pack follows in the post.
Many thanks to Yvonne, Lucia, Christine, Mark and Maciej for their recent generous donations – Gaura and Tombo promise that these will be shared with all of the 92 chimps we now have at Tacugama.

I have been meaning to ask about Pee Wee too. I just fell in love with him when he came to the sanctuary. I would love to see a recent. I’m sure he has grown so much.

I was just looking at some old photos of a chimp my wife and I adopted/rescued while working for Medicins Sans Frontieres in Sierra Leone in 2003/2004, and I thought I must check up on her, not expecting Tacugama to have a web site, I was very surprised to find so much information and that our former adoptee was the the cover girl of the month, all be it in a sad state of health (influenza). I would love to know if Josephine is the Josephine I bought to Tacugama in early 2004(may?) she was approx 3 years old then and she had a wound on her arm (that we were treating in our hospital). She used to travel the country with me sitting on my lap in the 4wd and just hanging off my body the whole time, she had had a pretty rough life before as I found her chained to a log in a haze of flies and filth, with an untreated wound resulting in a bad bone infection. If anybody can confirm that she is the same josephine that would be appreciated. My email address is Brucetarryn@hotmail.com
